Chow Yun Fat will portray another unique character to add to his ever-growing list of diversified character portrayals. Chow will relieve the life story of the most influential Chinese philosopher, Confucius, whose teachings positively affected the life of many Asians. He lived during the Zhou Dynasty (551 BC to 479 BC) in China and helped in promoting good morals and values to the society who were struggling from consumerism. He had also become an advocate of peace and justice in times of war and chaos.
Chow used to portray roles as a thief, a gangster, a hit-man, a killer cop but he has also been seen doing drama, comedy, romance, supernatural thrillers and recently, a fantasy-action-adventure film, Dragon Ball Z. His versatility as an actor and his credibility in handling different types of challenging roles made him the right man for the job. No wonder he was hailed as “the coolest actor in the world” by the Los Angeles Times.
The movie started off with a production budget of $2.8 million that grew to $22 million (Hongkong dollars) until the end of production. It is anticipated to be phenomenal with the kind of actor, visual settings, musical score, production design and good film direction. The film is directed by Mei Hu who worked on the films – Army Nurse, For All Eternity and Far from War. Some of the movie posters were already displayed at Cannes’s Film Market while you can view the first movie trailer here courtesy of YouTube.

Amazing isn’t it? It’s got to be another blockbuster film, a great movie to look forward to. However at this time, no US distributor has been engaged yet for its commercial distribution. The movie will be released in China within this month of September, in time for Confucius’s 2,560th birthday and will also be presented in celebration of the 60th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
