After some trouble involving the casting for this project, everything has been sorted and production is now in full-swing. Some production pictures have already been released particularly showing Jay Chou as Kato, The Green Hornet’s sidekick who utilizes his martial arts expertise and disguising himself in a black chauffeur’s uniform to protect his employer’s identity.
It looks like Jay is having a blast in his Hollywood debut starring in this remake together with big stars Seth Rogen as Britt Reid a.k.a. The Green Hornet, the publisher of The Daily Sentinel newspaper who secretly fights crime disguising himself in a green trench coat, fedora and a mask.
Cameron Diaz joins the cast as Lenore Case, the love interest of the superhero.
The role of the villain Chudnofsky went to Christoph Waltz (last seen in Inglorious Basterds where he won the Best Actor in Cannes Film Festival). Chudnofsky is a Los Angeles crime lord who plans to unite all gangs in the city to make him more powerful. It was said that Nicolas Cage was considered for the role but later dropped out thinking that the role was “one-dimensional”.
The film is scheduled to be released on December 2010.
