
Jeonju International Film Festival has been known to invite critically acclaimed directors to participate in its annual Jeonju Digital Project and this year, they have invited three of the best Asian independent digital filmmakers from Korea, Japan and the Philippines to take part in this year’s project entitled, Visitors, whose main theme revolves on mysterious visitors appearing at a certain place and how they affect the people around them.
by Hong Sang-soo which tells about the a woman’s love-hate relationship with the people around her as she suddenly drops by Jenju. Meanwhile, Japanese director Naomi Kawase’s share is Koma, an exploration of the fragile and often tense relationship between Korea and Japan where a third-generation Korean-Japanese man visit’s the village of Koma and encounters a lady mysterious resident. Butterflies Have No Memories, on the other hand, is the Philippines’ offering and is directed by Lav Diaz which depicts a village’s struggle after a mining company has pulled out of the area and how a Canadian woman’s appearance on the area further complicate things around.

Visitors is set to be released on November 12, 2009 in South Korean theaters and is expected to be shown internationally as a participant in various film festivals all over the world.
