ShaolinTemple

Not long after the cast announcement, production finally begins (October 22nd 2009) on Benny Chan’s Shaolin.

Movie Synopsis:

China is plunged into strife as feuding warlords try to expand their power by warring over neighboring lands. Fuelled by his success on the battlefield, young and arrogant Hao Jie sneers at Shaolin’s masters when he beats one of them in a duel. But the pride comes before a fall. When his own family is wiped out by a rival warlord, Hao is forced to take refuge with the monks. As the civil unrest spreads and the people suffer, Hao and the Shaolin masters are forced to take a fiery stand against the evil warlords. They launch a daring plan or rescue and escape.

The movie is budgeted for $30 million with an expected release date of end 2010.

This film is not only special due to the ensemble cast, but for the first time in almost 30 years filming will take place inside the legendary Shaolin Temple! No studio shots folks!

So although there is quite a long wait for the release , its going to be pretty exciting watching the production of what should turn out to be an absolutely fantastic Kung Fu epic, we will do our best here at AMP to keep you all posted every step of the way during production.

Shaolin confirmed cast

Originally it was thought that Jackie Chan’s role would just be a small cameo but given that Chan will be playing the role of Kung Fu Master to lead Nicholas Tse, surely we can expect to see alot more of Chan than initially thought (more a supporting role than cameo it seems? – his role in Founding Republic..Now thats a cameo! ;-) )

Shaolin , IP MAN 2 and also Tony Leung’s IP Man movie are some of our most anticipated martial arts epic for 2010 and before the close of the year AMP will also be detailing a few more surprise movies in store for us in what should be a brilliant year for movie goers in 2010!
