former world champion hurdler Liu Xiang has been asked to play a thief in a new installment of Jackie Chan’s ‘Police Story’ series. Chan sent out his invitation to the hurdler at a recent charity event, although filming is not expected to start until after Liu Xiang retires in 2013.

Not much is known about the project, but Xiang was apparently selected so that he can run, jump and leap over bicycles and cars in a scene that finds him fleeing from Inspector Chan (Chan). Considering the shooting date scheduled though, one has to wonder just how capable Chan will be when it comes to competing with someone much younger but Chan always gives others a chance to shine in his movies.

Yes it’ll be a long wait but lets hope it happens and that Chan is still making action movies in 2013.
